Why My Work is Unvarnished
I don’t varnish my work because varnish creates a barrier—something between the art and the raw emotion it holds. My paintings are meant to be exposed, unfiltered, and vulnerable. Every texture, imperfection, and stroke is intentional. Varnish would smooth that over, dulling the intensity and muting the honesty of the piece.
Varnish also alters the original appearance of a painting. It can darken colors, reduce contrast, and create an artificial uniformity that works against the raw emotion I capture. Over time, it can yellow or cloud, distorting the work in ways I refuse to accept. It also reacts unpredictably with mixed media, changing how materials interact with light and space.
This is not a flaw—it’s a choice. My work is not meant to be polished or sealed away under a protective layer. It is meant to be felt, not just seen. By leaving it unvarnished, I preserve the rawness, ensuring the viewer experiences it as it was meant to be—unprotected, just like the emotions that created it.

Care & Display Guidelines
To maintain the longevity of your artwork, follow these recommendations:
Storage & Display
Avoid Direct Sunlight – UV exposure can cause fading.
Keep Away from Heat Sources – Vents, radiators, and fireplaces may lead to cracking.
Maintain a Stable Environment – Extreme dryness or humidity can cause warping, mold, or surface damage.
Choose a Safe Hanging Location – Avoid high-traffic areas where the piece could be bumped or scratched.
Handling
Use Clean Hands or Gloves – Oils and dirt can stain or damage the surface.
Do Not Stack Paintings – If storage is necessary, use padding to separate artworks.
Store Upright in a Cool, Dry Place – Use acid-free paper or cloth for added protection.
Cleaning
Dust Gently – Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth or a large, fluffy makeup brush.
Avoid Moisture – Do not wet clean; water can seep in and cause irreversible damage.
Framing (Optional)
Use a Spacer – Prevents direct contact between the glass/acrylic and the painting.
Opt for UV-Protective Glass – Reduces glare and prevents heat buildup.
